Cars. They're quite fascinating to me. How every piece of every part is in place, exactly where it's supposed to be. How every gear shift is perfectly executed by the system. The car was originally invented by German engine designer Carl Benz. Yes, he also started the automobile company, Mercedes Benz. And needless to say, it was a once-in-a-lifetime invention. That was over 130 years ago and cars have come a long long way since then. From being the latest upgrade from horses to now being able to just relax in the driver's seat as the car drives itself. We have come a long way.
A car is basically a masterpiece of physics. Thermodynamics. It's basically a heat engine that is connected to the wheel shaft which, technically just turns the wheels. But there's an almost infinitely complex structure inside every hood of every car and it's working miraculously to make that car run. To have everything under the hood working perfectly and then to make that car look even more attractive on the outside truly is a match made in heaven.
We can imagine, ourselves as humans to be very important. Mainly because there is not really competition for our species. No species as intelligent as us has been founded yet. So if we talk in a sense of an overlook, we, as humans have done the most constructive tasks in the history of the earth. As well as the most destructive. From Hitler to Gandhi, all of them were humans. We can talk about cars in this sense too. From Daytona racing to carrying the president, all of it goes to cars. But unlike us, cars actually do have competition, there are ships, helicopters, airplanes, and a lot of competition. But cars come up at the top of the list of the most useful material things we possess.
A simple manual car, which is hardly simple, has a basic structure consisting of an engine, car body, chassis, transmission, and electrics.
The engine can be regarded as the heart of the car because without the engine the purpose of a car would seize to make any sense. The car body is the most expensive part of the car which also acts as a shock absorber. The suspension also serves a similar purpose. The transmission is a mechanism designed to transmit torque from the engine to the wheels. It consists, in the most easily explainable language, of the clutch, the gearbox, and the propeller shaft. All of the systems are designed perfectly to work in accordance with each other. A car's acceleration is measured by the amount of horsepower it has. The more the horsepower, the better the acceleration. Though weight also has a significant effect on acceleration, as the heavier the car is, the more force is required to accelerate it.
This is the basic structure of every car ever manufactured. Some, made much better than others. Some have another motor just to cover up the gaps left by the main engine. Some reach seemingly impossible speeds, catching up to airplanes taking off. Cars have been around for generations and they will be around for much more. And they have always fascinated me. If it's not the mechanism, then it's the design, the curves, if not that it's just the simple look or the speed. We've all, at some point, fallen in love with cars. I've never stopped. And given the rate at which they're coming out much better, I don't think any of us will be able to resist falling in love with them.
