People huh? What's up with that lot? We have all kinds of people in our lives. Friends, enemies, colleagues. All with a different kind of mindset. With different ideas and a different brain. The human brain, which is the single most complex thing in the universe, is just given out to every single human being we've ever met and seen. Friends, enemies, colleagues, everyone has it. We like to think of ourselves as the "main characters" of our life, and that is true for all the people in the world. Everyone is their own main character. But how does it work? Ever wondered?
There are eight billion people on the planet all being their own main characters in their own lives. It's fascinating. If you ever go to a football match, you'll find yourself sitting in a stadium with hundreds, even thousands of people. Any of which, if you get to know them better could be your soul mate. Growing up, when we find our first boyfriend or girlfriend, we think that nobody in the world is going to get us as they do. There's nobody more perfectly made for you than they are. But, that's just not true. There are just too many...….people. Any one of those thousand people in the stadium is perfectly capable of being your soulmate, given some time. And that makes me wonder how attached we get when we fall in love with someone. One person, out of billions, and we dedicate everything we have to them. Body, mind, and soul. Suddenly the billions disappear. Nobody else matters anymore. That's how the most complex thing in the entire universe works. It cannot see reason beyond its emotions. And that's beautiful in its own sense.
We, as people carry other people with us. In one way or the other. That habit you have of holding your pen without the cap, or the way you always look at the watch when you walk. Maybe you always had that in you, maybe you picked it up from someone, and that could be anyone and it won't be a bad thing. It could be your mom, dad, ex, or anyone. Throughout our life, we meet a lot of people and we pick something up from them and we carry that throughout our lives. And that's beautiful. We are a mosaic of all the people we love throughout our life and that's beautiful. Even though there are 8 billion people in the world one can only have a certain amount of people in life. The process of moving on takes a lot of energy, and a lot of time, and if I had to move on from 8 billion people, it would take a billion lifetimes. 8 people in your life could be more than enough for you to stay happy and enjoy your 80-90 years. For some, it might be 80 or even 800. History has been our proof that no matter how many people there might be on the planet and how many main characters there might be there's only one we need throughout our life to be a family. Suddenly the billions of people are just, there.
Back to the main character thing. Imagine you're sitting in that same stadium and you take your eyes off the game and look around for a moment. And just soak it in. That there really are thousands of people sitting here with you, each having their completely original story, which might not be original at all. Every single thing we go through in life must have been experienced by someone else on this earth. But there's no way we'll know it. It could be literally anything and it has happened somewhere before probably. That is weird, because then does it mean that we all lead the same lives, only different variations of it? Jeff Bezos was not the first person to make 200 billion dollars, a lot of people have done it, but we don't know how much of the information came out, or even if it was in the form of money. Humans have been around for a long long time and have gone through a lot of different events. Catastrophic as well as joyful. Some people have been more main characterlike (no idea if that's a word) than some others. Maybe someone fought a tiger to save their sister. I mean that's definitely more main character than me. But still, I'm always gonna be the person I lead my life, no matter how little or how irrelevant it might be. But it's still my life and I'm gonna be its main character. That's both comforting, and stressful. Either way, it's what life is.
On an earthly scale, you're just another one in the masses, one of the statistics.
On a personal scale, you're all you've got. And all you'll ever need.
